I figured as much…
New tobacco regulations supported by largest tobacco company.
“Marlboro maker Philip Morris USA, the nation’s largest tobacco company, came out in support of the bill, saying it was behind tough but fair regulation. Its chief rivals were opposed, saying that FDA restrictions on new products would lock in Philip Morris’ share of the market.”

“Tough but fair”? Tobacco companies used to be for free markets… They must have realized regulation would bankrupt the competition.
Now they’re even supporting bans against smoking in public places, because they’ve come to realize they won’t win that battle.
They’ll be sorry if the government takeover of health care happens, that’s for sure.
Maybe Philip Morris can hedge their losses and invest in the black market.

I’m an extremely infrequent smoker, but sad to see one of the last few product producing companies in America get targeted.
It’s about choice and I like having the choice to smoke any flavor cigarette I want or not smoke if I want either. I also don’t like the public bans. Businesses should be able to say whether they allow smoking or not and then people can either chose to patronize and work there or not. The market will decide.
